A BMAT course is a program designed to help students prepare for the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT), an exam required for admission to some medical and veterinary schools in the UK, Europe, and Asia. The course typically covers the three sections of the BMAT: Aptitude and Skills, Scientific Knowledge and Applications, and Writing Task.

The most important thing you need to do for BMAT preparation is to come up with an organised plan about how much time you want to spend on revising for each section. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
For Section 1 of BMAT, you need to get to grips with critical thinking and problem solving. For BMAT Section 2, you should recap the GCSE syllabus. For BMAT Section 3, it's worth brushing up on your BMAT essay skills. We cover all of this on our full day BMAT Preparation Course and, by the end, you will be a master in the BMAT!

It is recommended to do at least 10 weeks of preparation for the BMAT. Many students end up trying to squeeze all their BMAT preparation right at the end; however, this is not recommended.
By sitting our BMAT Course early, you'll understand all the tips and tricks and that will allow you to spend more time doing practice questions as you get closer to the exam.

This is a very common question we get asked. Overall, most people say that BMAT takes less time to prepare for. However, it is a slightly harder exam.
The UCAT, on the other hand, takes less time to prepare but is harder on the day due to the time constraints.
We recommend doing a mock of BMAT and UCAT before you start your revision and understanding which works better for you.

Oxford generally expect you to score at least 6.0 at a minimum in each section of the UCAT.
That said, Oxford looks at both your GCSEs and your BMAT score together in order to decide whether you're fit for interview. They also take preference on the BMAT essay, so it is essential you score highly in this section in order to secure a chance of attending Oxford. This is why we recommend coming to our BMAT Course and becoming comfortable with the BMAT essay format.

The average BMAT score is 3.0; therefore, any score less than 3.0 would be considered as 'low'. A low BMAT score can really work against you when applying, and you stand the best chance of getting above the average if you are well prepared and understand the theory behind the BMAT questions- this is what we will teach you during our BMAT courses.

The BMAT is extremely important if you are applying for Cambridge to study Medicine. Many of our BMAT tutors actually attend Cambridge and will be delivering the BMAT Courses.
