The IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test) is a medical entrance exam for students who want to study medicine, dentistry or surgery at university in Italy in English.

IMAT Courses are preparatory courses designed to help students prepare for the IMAT test. These courses typically cover the content and format of the test, as well as offering guidance on study strategies and test-taking techniques.

We usually recommend at least 10 weeks of IMAT Preparation ahead of the exam. This will ensure that you have plenty of time to go over all the parts of the test, the possible content and to do several mock tests.

The full IMAT exam is 100 minutes long. Unlike other similar tests, the IMAT time is not split by sections, so you have to be very disciplined in order to ensure that you complete the full exam in the time. The IMAT Live Day will help you to understand more about how to divide your time efficiently and save time where you can.

The IMAT focuses a lot of your basic sciences and maths, so we recommend that you revise GCSE and A Level Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Maths to be safe. The Physics and Maths content come under the same section (Section 4), so you can revise these together.
You will also need to revise general knowledge, data analysis skills and reasoning skills in order to prepare for the exam. Our IMAT Day will help you to better understand the likely exam content and optimise your revision.

The IMAT has four sections.
Section 1: Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge.
Section 2: Biology.
Section 3: Chemistry.
Section 4: Physics and Maths.
Each section has a different number of questions and type of question for you to answer. During the IMAT Live Day, you will go through the different parts of the exam and go through each section in detail, so you understand what is being asked you at each hurdle.

Yes, IMAT Courses can be effective in helping students improve their scores on the IMAT test. However, success ultimately depends on the individual student's level of commitment and willingness to put in the necessary time and effort.

No, you are not allowed to take any aids into the exam. If you have any special requirements, you will need to contact the exam centre directly to discuss these. During the IMAT Live Day, the tutors will be able to give extra tips of quick mental maths and on working accurately under time pressure.

You can take the IMAT in most major cities around the world. You will need to register through the Universitaly account you set up for the exam and pick a suitable centre near you. The tutors on the IMAT Live Day will be able to answer any logistical questions you may have and point out how you can book the exam where you are.

There is no real 'pass' score that you should aim for; most universities in Italy will use the IMAT as part of their consideration. That said, it is usually agreed that a good score is 45 and above. The tutors on the IMAT Live Day will go through all the different marking criteria to help you see where you can boost your score.
