→ What are Circuits A,B,C and D?
On checkout you have the option to add additional circuits and live days. We run 4 different circuits - A, B, C and D - each with different stations. If you only book 1 circuit, you can pick any. If you book 2 or 3 circuits, choose multiple. The more you attend, the more your technique will improve!
We also have 2 different live classroom teaching days, so feel free to add these to your checkout.
→ What is MMI for medical school?
MMI stands for Multiple Mini Interviews, which is a type of interview format used by many medical schools during the admissions process. The MMI is a series of short interviews, typically lasting around 10 minutes each, which are designed to assess the candidate's communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and personal attributes.
During an MMI, the candidate moves between different stations, where they are presented with a scenario or question and given a short amount of time to prepare their response before entering the interview room. The stations are designed to test a range of skills, such as empathy, problem-solving, teamwork, and ethical reasoning.
→ How long does the MMI Circuit last?
The MMI Circuit lasts around 4.5 hours. This includes a short 15 minute introduction talk, and a 15 minute break half way.
→ How long is each individual MMI Station?
During the day you will experience 10 breakout rooms, each lasting for 20 minutes. In an individual breakout room, you will experience 2 MMI Stations. For one station you will be the candidate, and for the other station you will observe your partner and provide peer to peer feedback.
→ Why do I have to observe some MMI stations during the MMI course day?
Feedback from students has shown that alternating between being a candidate and an observer can really benefit your overall experience. Whilst you observe an MMI station, you have the opportunity to take a step back and analyse how an MMI station develops. You can also learn from your partner and their approach to the station. Conversely, when you are the candidate, you will receive feedback from both the MMI examiner and your partner.
→ Which MMI station topics do you cover during the Live MMI Circuit?
We will cover MMI stations on all of the common interview topics, including Medical Ethics MMI Stations, Work Experience MMI Stations, Covid-19 MMI Stations, NHS MMI Stations, Data Interpretation MMI Stations, Image MMI Stations, Role Play MMI Stations, Personality MMI Stations and much more.
→ Can you tailor the Live MMI Day to my specific university?
Yes we can! We have university specific stations, so we ask you to specify your top university choice beforehand. If you are applying to King’s for example, we can cover topics like Why King’s, the course structure at King’s and specifics about the medical school during your circuit.
→ What type of feedback do I receive after the MMI stations?
After each MMI station, you receive in person feedback from the examiner and your partner. They will give you specific guidance on the positives and negatives from your performance, as well as feedback on how to improve. The MMI examiner will also fill out a full mark scheme and MMI checklist for each station. You will then receive a 70 page document after the circuit with model answers, mark schemes and your specific MMI scores and examiner sheets.
→ How many different examiners do I have for the MMI circuit?
You will meet a different examiner for each breakout room. Therefore you will experience a variety of different MMI interviewing styles. All of our MMI examiners are experienced and have taught hundreds of students in the past.
→ Do I receive any other materials alongside the Medicine MMI Live Circuit?
Yes! We provide you with our Medicine Interview Online Course, which has over 100 video tutorials covering every aspect of the interview. The MMI interview course is accompanied by weekly interview classroom sessions via Zoom.
→ Why does Medic Mind run its MMI Circuit via Zoom?
The MMI circuit functions very well via breakout rooms on Zoom. You will be able to record your individual circuit and therefore review the feedback afterwards. The movement between stations is much more efficient online, so we have more time to spend on stations and feedback. There is nearly no waiting time before or after the circuit, so you can fit the MMI circuit into your busy schedule with minimal hassle!
→ Why do we use MMI in medicine?
Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) are used in medicine as a way to assess a candidate's non-academic skills and personal attributes that are essential for success in medical school and as a doctor. MMIs allow medical schools to evaluate a candidate's communication skills, critical thinking abilities, ethical reasoning, and professionalism, which cannot always be fully assessed through academic records or traditional interviews.
MMIs are also effective at reducing the impact of interviewer biases, as each candidate is evaluated by multiple interviewers at different stations, which reduces the risk of any one interviewer influencing the outcome of the interview.
Additionally, MMIs provide a standardised and structured interview format, which allows for fair and consistent evaluations of all candidates. The format also allows medical schools to assess a larger number of candidates in a shorter period of time than traditional interviews.
Overall, the use of MMIs in medicine helps to ensure that medical schools are selecting candidates who not only have the academic qualifications but also possess the personal and interpersonal skills necessary to become successful medical professionals.
