1About Me
Hi there! My name is Koby and I’m a first year medical student in Trinity College Dublin. I sat the HPAT exam in order to gain entry into medicine in 2022 and scored in the 97th percentile. Achieving a high score in the HPAT was far from smooth sailing. The HPAT is a challenging exam, designed to stretch competent students. From my experience, it requires an entirely different mindset to conventional school exams. In fact, mindset really is everything when it comes to HPAT. It is critical that students leave behind the ‘perfectionist’ mentality that has allowed them to excel at school and become critical, flexible and dynamic thinkers in order to maximise their potential in the HPAT. Having tread the arduous path of HPAT preparation myself, I would love to help prospective students improve their results and realise their dreams of studying medicine at university. Now that I am on the other side, I can say that medicine was definitely worth all the work and dedication. Prepare as best as you can and believe in yourself. You can do it!
My teaching style
When it comes to HPAT, my teaching style is to encourage students to examine their logical reasoning when tackling questions. Not only should students be clear in what they believe the correct answer to be, they should also be able to confidently and clearly explain to a tutor WHY they reasoned in this way. By analysing their thought process with a tutor, students can begin to unearth flaws in their logical reasoning which are preventing them from maximising their potential in HPAT exams.

I have experience tutoring both higher and ordinary level maths at Leaving Certificate (final school exams in Ireland)

– 8 H1s in the Leaving Certificate (top grade in all subjects taken)

– 4th in national applied mathematics competition
– Selected for national meeting of European Youth Parliament
– School awards in chemistry, applied maths, Irish and accounting
