4About Me
Hi there!
My name is Megan, and I’m a second year medical student in UCC.
The first thing I tell anyone about me is that I’m a passionate musician: playing the piano is my favourite way to relax, and I also love teaching music classes. When I’m not playing or listening to music, I enjoy running, knitting, and reading.
I am Welsh, and have been living here in Ireland for the last ten years now, and my dream is to work abroad one day! Having studied French at school, and having had the chance to work as an au pair in Bordeaux last summer and practice my skills, I’m hoping to develop my fluency during my medicine studies and one day work there.
Studying medicine has been a dream of mine for many years, and I’m glad to say that the course is as fascinating and exciting as I expected. I scored first honours in all my exams last year so I’m not afraid of a bit of hard work! I’m enjoying meeting so many new people, and trying out all that university life has to offer.

My teaching style
The HPAT and UCAT are tough exams, unlike any you’ve sat before at school, but I work with students to refine the smart strategies that save you time and help you score high, with less of the stress. I believe that passion and sincerity take a student a long way in university admissions, so we’ll work together at interview or personal statement to highlight your unique personality and strengths. Overall, I take an individual approach with every student to figure out the methods that suit them best.
My past experience
Having taught piano to a variety of ages and abilities, I have a great understanding of how to bring on students to achieve the very best they’re capable of. I love seeing students come on in confidence and skill and perfect their chosen discipline.
My Proudest Achievements
In my final year of school, I took part in the Meitheal scheme, in which I and two classmates worked with the incoming first years/year sevens to help ease their transition to secondary school. It was a big commitment and took a lot of time and work, but seeing the students grow in confidence and make friends over the year was very special.
