About Me

Hi! Iโ€™m Long Hao, a Chinese international student from Singapore and I speak fluent Chinese and English! Iโ€™m 21 and currently studying my first year of dentistry at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL)/Barts and the London after serving 2 years of mandatory National Service. In Singapore, I went through the Integrated Programme which allows top-performing students to skip GCSE equivalent and go straight for A levels. I scored As for all my sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) for my Junior College (Sixth form equivalent) promotional examination, As (A* equivalent) for Math, Physics and Chemistry for SEAB Cambridge A level. I applied twice during my time in the Army and got 3040 (UCAT) and 2820 (UCAT ANZ) for my attempts. I received interviews from all the universities I applied to in the first round and was on the waiting list for Kingsโ€™ College London (KCL) and QMUL. The second time I received interviews from Trinity college Dublin (TCD), Bristol and QMUL, receiving offers from TCD, QMUL and ended up choosing to study at QMUL.

My teaching style

I prefer to teach students how to study efficiently for exams and to help them understand the concepts as much as possible rather than strictly memorising all of the content. I will usually task students to do practice attempts and review their mistakes while going through content that they are weak on. I also believe that the student needs to be motivated on their own in order to do well.

My past experience

I tutored in Singapore mainly for Sciences for GCSE and A level, with experience teaching Year 9 Science, Year 11 Chemistry and A-level Chemistry. I helped a student achieve a grade of B (A equivalent) in their A-level from a grade of U in their preliminary examination for A-level Chemistry within 2 months prior to their A-level.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement certainly has to be getting into QMUL for Dentistry as an international student as it is rather difficult to get accepted and I personally also put in a great deal of effort into getting an offer.
