Hi, my name is Klara and I am currently a third year Dentistry student at Queen’s University of Belfast. I received 3 offers in 2023 from both Liverpool and Dundee as well as Queen’s. I really enjoy my course, especially as I enter into third year and gain my own set of patients in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
I hold a Dental Scholarship with Dental Mentor, which I gained following the completion of tasks throughout my University application such as attending a Dental Summer School in Stirling and carrying out two presentations for the Virtual Dental Society. Through this Scholarship, I have gained over two years of experience in interview tutoring. Additionally, I have spoken at several ‘Get Into Dentistry’ conferences, discussing my journey and advice to aspiring dental students. In the near future, I would like focus more on interview tutoring for both Dentistry and Medicine as I enjoy watching applicants improve quickly when provided with guidance from someone who has been there and knows every step of the process!
I like to apply the adaptive pacing teaching style where I gain a sense of where the student is at by attempting questions across many topics such as current hot topics and role play scenarios, then adapting my tutoring to suit each students ‘baseline’. If a student is struggling to grasp how to respond to ethical dilemmas for example, I can provide specific tips and tricks in addition to sending across resources to aid students as their interview/s approaches. This is vital to avoid common pitfalls that applicants make during the interview process.
I have two and one year of virtual interview tutoring with Dental Mentor and Study mind mentor respectively. I have tutored students across the UK, dealing with struggles from low confidence, timing responses or bridging knowledge gaps students struggled to identify themselves.
My proudest achievements to date are strangely all non-academic. I was very proud after securing my Gold Duke Of Edinburgh award gained following my five day expedition through in the Mourne mountains . I was also proud to travel to Minnesota from May to August of 2026 to work as a lead cabin counselor in an additional needs summer camp. It was a very nerve wracking decision but I am proud to have taken a leap of faith into the unknown despite my initial fears about what the role would entail.
