About Me:
Hi! I’m Mohammed Shadid, a fourth-year Dental student at Cardiff University with a passion for supporting students through key academic and application milestones. I tutor GCSE subjects, UCAT, and interview preparation, and also provide detailed feedback and development support for personal statements.
I have experience serving as an MMI examiner at Cardiff University, assessing prospective dental students across a range of interview stations. This involved evaluating candidates’ communication skills, ethical reasoning, professionalism and suitability for dentistry. This experience has given me valuable insight into what dental schools look for in successful applicants, allowing me to provide targeted, practical advice to help students excel in their interviews.
I achieved eight grade 9s, one 8 and one 7 at GCSE, followed by A* in Biology, A in Chemistry, and A in Maths at A-Level. I know first-hand the level of preparation and strategy needed to succeed—not just in exams, but in competitive healthcare applications too.
With past experience tutoring GCSE students, I focus on helping each student build confidence, master core concepts, and refine their exam technique. For aspiring dental students, I offer structured support for the UCAT and interview stages, guiding students on how to approach questions, structure responses, and present themselves effectively as well as support with there personal statements.
Outside my studies, I’m part of the Cardiff University boxing team, and a big fan of football, basketball, and Formula 1 — so I know the importance of balancing discipline with doing what you enjoy.

Why Choose Me?
One of my key strengths lies in interview preparation. With a 100% success rate in interviews for dentistry, I know how to help you communicate clearly, think on your feet, and stand out. I bring strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a supportive approach to every session — drawing from both my own experiences and my work with others.
Whether you’re aiming to boost your GCSE grades, master the UCAT, or develop the confidence and strategy to perform in interviews, I’ll help you build the skills and mindset needed to reach your goals. My sessions are tailored, honest, and focused on getting results.
Let’s work together to make your goals a reality.
My Teaching Style:
My teaching style is collaborative and student-led, with strong structure and guidance from me throughout. I always tailor sessions to each student’s needs—whether that’s tackling tricky topics, building confidence, or focusing on specific goals. Students are encouraged to bring questions, topics, or targets to each session or even beforehand. That said, I’m also happy to pre-plan and structure lessons fully if that’s what the student prefers—I’m very flexible in how I work.
For interview prep and UCAT, I share honest, practical advice and strategies I’ve learned from my own experience, helping students feel more confident and prepared. No matter what we’re working on—GCSEs, UCAT, or interviews—the foundation of my teaching is always practice and repetition. Whether it’s exam-style questions, UCAT drills, or mock interviews, repeated practice is what builds confidence and helps everything become second nature.
My goal is to create a supportive, focused environment where students feel in control of their progress—and ready to achieve their best.
I have offered GCSEs maths tutoring online via teams this year (during my second year of dental school)
I also had experience teaching as part of a team in a supplementary Arabic school on Sundays.
My Proudest Achievements:
One of my proudest achievements is getting into dental school and making it through the challenges of first, second and third year —it’s been a tough but enjoyable and rewarding journey so far.
I’m proud of my academic results too: eight grade 9s an 8 and a 7 at GCSE and A*AA at A-Level, which came from a lot of hard work and consistency.
Outside academics, being part of the Cardiff University boxing team has helped me stay disciplined and balanced. I’ve also worked with refugee students at an Arabic supplementary school, supporting both their education and helping them settle into a new culture—which has been really meaningful to me.
At school, I was Head of Charities, leading fundraising projects and events, and that taught me a lot about leadership and allowed me to give back, which is something very close to me.
