Hewa

I am a fourth-year medical student at Sapienza University of Rome with a strong academic foundation and a growing focus on translational medicine, particularly within the field of lipid metabolism disorders. My current research explores the genetic and metabolic mechanisms underlying conditions such as familial hypercholesterolemia and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), with an emphasis on understanding how molecular insights can inform clinical practice. Alongside this, I have developed a broader interest in precision medicine and the application of individualized approaches to disease prevention and treatment.

Through my academic and research experiences, I have gained exposure to both laboratory-based investigation and clinically relevant problem-solving, which has strengthened my motivation to bridge the gap between research and patient care. In addition to my research work, I am actively involved in medical education, working as a tutor and mentor to support students in mastering complex scientific concepts and preparing for competitive examinations such as the IMAT. I value structured, evidence-based learning and aim to foster critical thinking, clarity, and confidence in those I teach, while continuing to develop my own skills as both a clinician and researcher.
