The University of Chester is home to one of the newest medical schools in the UK. Set to take students for the first time in 2022, this medical degree is currently only open to international graduate students. The degree takes the form of an accelerated four-year programme and takes advantage of student’s previous study skills and experiences.
Teaching is delivered in a case-based learning format with small group work. Clinical experience and patient contact are integrated throughout the course, with students meeting patients within their very first weeks. Placements take place in a wide variety of settings including NHS hospitals including the Countess of Chester, Warrington & Halton and the world-leading Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt orthopaedic hospital.

| Teaching style | CBL Teaching in early years is centred around case-based learning (CBL). In small groups students are encouraged to work through clinical scenarios and support their peers learning. Throughout the four years students will analyse a range of cases that cover core information. This is supplemented with lectures, clinical simulation and time on placement. |

Teaching on the medical course takes place across several locations including the historic Exon Park campus, Bache Hall and the Wheeler Building. Clinical placements take place throughout Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales. |
