Hi, my name’s Nikki! I’m a second year medical student at Bond University with 2 years of tutoring experience.
I am extremely passionate about helping pre-meds go through a pretty jarring journey with less resistance and pressure. I have a lot of experience coaching pre-meds with Medicine MMIs covering all aspects from content to presentation to professional presence. I received 2980 in my UCAT, achieved the top 1% in the psychometric test and graduated high school with a 98.4 ATAR. Outside of being a student, I love binging TV shows, music and good cinematic movies. If you have any good music suggestions (I don’t genre-shame), feel free to send them through!
Also, I can relate to how confusing the medical interview process can be. I have personal experience from participating in the medical interviews for UNSW, Flinders, Griffith and James Cook Univeristy as well as knowledge from discussing what worked and didnโt work for both successful and unsuccessful interviewees. Now, I am well-equipped to support students in the lead-up to their medical interview and eager to help people improve their interview communication skills. ๐
The process of getting into medicine can be pretty brutal, exhausting and sometimes soul crushing. Trust me, Iโve gone through the process multiple times myself. I’m not here to give you some formulaic, cookie-cutter, one-dimensional recipe to sitting the MMI. Instead, I’m here to make you a communicator, so that you can showcase who you are and how you see the world in a meaningful and persuasive way, regardless of the format. The meat of our sessions together would involve a combination of * Answering questions from my questions bank (MMI stems that I have collated myself), * constant reflection and dissecting your responses for its substance, * brainstorming ideas together, alongside challenging your values and beliefs * strong focus on exam technique * providing additional resources to hone your skills in your own time. Additionally, I wholeheartedly believe that a focused mindset and healthy pool of motivation plays 80% of a role in our performance. Iโll try to help you wade through the resistance, uncertainty and stress so that you can sit the exam/interview knowing that youโve done your best. Also, if thereโs anything extra you would want me to add into our lessons, Iโd be happy to accommodate. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and I’m here to trudge with you along the sidelines until you hopefully get in!
Each week, I create and present 3 x 1-hour group study sessions for Anatomy and Physiology first-year
health students at Bond University. I provide one-on-one online tutoring for medical school interview preparation for students. 85+ hours of tutoring practice has enabled me to develop my active listening and presentation skills and allowed me to encourage open communication between all class members to achieve the best learning outcomes! I’m also a Biology and English Language and Literature tutor for Year 11 to Year 12 Students as apart of the International Baccalaureate Program.
My proudest achievements is achieving high distinctions in Medical school across my first 2 years so far with my cumulative GPA a 6.7 (scale out of 7) converting to an ATAR of 99.6, it has been a challenging but very rewarding process! I won the 2024 planetary health conference out of 200 medical students leading a team of 7 by engineering a sustainable sanitary health product for rural use.
