Hi there! My name is Tugra Ozcelik, and Iโm a Turkish medical student in my 6th year at Sapienza University of Rome. My passion for learning began as a 7-year-old with a dream to become the first doctor in my family. Itโs been one of the greatest challenges of my life, filled with countless exams and applications to different schools. I completed the IB Diploma Program in high school, which laid the core principles of my career as a person of science, while my love for languages has allowed me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. Iโm proud to speak four languages, a diversity that is one of the pillars of strength in my teaching approach.
I have extensive experience with the SAT, having applied to U.S. universities and been accepted to the University of Miamiโs Class of โ23. In addition, I pursued applications to UK institutions for medical school and for Chemistry and Biochemistry majors, including the University of Manchester and the University of Bristol. In 2019, I sat the IMAT and earned the 3rd highest score in my class, securing my place at Sapienza University of Rome. Throughout my studies, I have regularly tutored underclassmen, focusing on both surgical and clinical subjects. Beyond medical topics, Iโve privately taught high school biology and coached adult learners in IELTS preparation.
My diverse background and dedication to education drive my commitment to helping students not only achieve their academic goals but also thrive in their learning journeys.
I believe that certain passions and hobbies are essential to who we are and should never be sacrificed, even if it means taking a break from studying for a day. These pursuits keep us grounded, energized, and ultimately make us more effective learners. With this in mind, I strive to create personalized study plans for each of my students. Together, we carefully review their goals and daily schedules, ensuring a healthy balance between focused learning and valuable downtime. By setting realistic short- and long-term goals, we establish a solid understanding of each topic and build up from there.
Every subject we encounter is incorporated into a comprehensive mind map, making meaningful connections to solidify concepts in my studentsโ minds. To further support retention, I supplement lessons with resources like flashcards and implement โflipped classroomโ techniques, where my students take the lead by teaching the topic back to me as if explaining to a complete layperson.
I have experience teaching biology to high school juniors and seniors, specifically preparing them for the state university entrance exams in my country. Additionally, Iโve conducted both 1-on-1 and group IELTS lessons for adults, and for the past 10 months, Iโve been tutoring underclassmen in medical school with a special focus on Urology, Immunology, Rheumatology and Immunology.
My proudest achievement is being mere months away from realizing my 16-year dream of becoming a doctor. Iโm also incredibly grateful to have made my parents proud and to have formed lifelong friendships along the way.
