About Me

Hi I am Katerina. Having graduated from Cardiff Medical School and having completed Foundation Training, I am currently and MSc Student at Imperial College London. I aspire to pursue a career in Paediatrics. My teaching experience includes conducting departmental teaching throughout foundation training, as well as presenting my MSc projects in conferences. Additionally, throughout my rotations as a resident doctor, I regularly taught Leicester Medical Students from various years.

I come from Greece; those who meet me describe me as very approachable and cheerful, as well as motivated and motivational, determined and hard- working. I particularly enjoy teaching and I have also led several teaching sessions in my university; I consider myself to be patient and good at explaining things in different ways until I ensure they are understood by the student (as this is the only way theyโ€™re gonna stick in mind). Apart from medicine and teaching, I have also worked as a COVID-19 vaccinator during the pandemic, as well as training for a marathon which I am about to partake in November. I would love to help you have the same, incredible opportunities Iโ€™ve had while studying medicine by helping you ensure you secure a place and Iโ€™m looking forward to meeting you! ๐Ÿ™‚

My teaching style

I believe the teaching style should be tailored to each student specifically, as everyone has a different way of learning which is most efficient for them individually. Having said that, I personally like using some slides as a reference during the lessons and going through them methodically, ensuring everything is understood; then I like moving on to carrying out practice questions in exam- style format, as I believe this is the most effective way to learn.

My past experience

Yes, I have carried out teaching sessions for younger years in Medical School (in physiology) and for my departments in foundation training ; I have delivered oral presentations regarding current research topics in conferences; I regularly teach medical students (particularly from Leicester and Oxford University) in their clinical years and I have also tutored several students for medical interviews, with an almost 100% success rate to date.

My Proudest Achievements

Having come to the UK from Greece, I believe I have managed to fully blend in, adapt to the new language, lifestyle and degree and achieve very highly- I am most proud of myself about this.
