Hi I’m Prash! I’m a doctor working in Manchester. I applied for medicine as an international student, and have over the years helped numerous British and international students with their applications and test prep. I remember how scary and seemingly unforgiving the application process was and would love to help you out by making it as simple and successful as possible, whilst having fun along the way!
I’ve been tutoring for a number of years – having been thoroughly involved in freelance tutoring as well as running my own university counselling service (admissions/test prep) for high school students. I’ve learnt that applications and interviews aren’t as scary as they are made to seem. Often times, we try and fill the shoes of the ‘ideal’ candidate, and forget to be ourselves in the process. I aim to not only make you feel confident about your learning, but also allow you to let you personality shine through, alongside all your achievements, to really stand out!
My teaching style is primarily focused on student engagement. I strongly believe in flexibility and patience to work around and meet students’ needs – whether that’s an explanation of the fundamentals or just an encouraging push to motivate you to do your best. In my own experience, having attended UCAT and interview classes, I often found it quite distressing how everyone was taught in the same manner, regardless of their personal aptitudes and self-motivation. In my tutoring experience I’ve learnt the importance of gauging the student’s position on the curve and accordingly adjust my teaching style to accommodate for this.
Over the past couple of years I’ve not only been thoroughly involved in freelance tutoring, but also have run my own university counselling (admissions/test prep/personal statement) service for high school students internationally, as well as in the UK. I have a strong awareness about the admission requirements for international/home students and have a strong network of friends/colleagues at universities across the UK (medicine/dentistry), which allows me to get an insight to the various admissions/interview processes. The majority of students I’ve\ tutored till date have gone on to receive multiple offers to study medicine at university.
To be able to make an impact on someone’s life, whether professionally in medicine or as a passion project on the side via tutoring/education, is something that really means a lot to me. Seeing the exponential progress of my tutees, from breaking their heads over abstract reasoning patterns on the UCAT to getting 4/4 interview offers, is something that I truly cherish.
