I’m Olley and I’m a graduate medical student. I studied biochemistry at Oxford, starting in 2014 then took a few years out before applying for medicine. I’ve been tutoring since 2018 and in that time have taken students through medical and Oxbridge interviews, as well as through science at all levels.
I love medicine and especially love talking to prospective students about it. It’s so rewarding to see someone with enthusiasm and intelligence making the choice to go into the medical field, and I always love answering questions and finding out things I don’t know from these conversations! I really enjoy encouraging students to trust themselves, and some of the best moments when tutoring are seeing students who’d previously been shy or unsure of themselves come to understand their own competence.
I’m warm, friendly and relaxed. That’s the feedback I’ve got from the tens (possibly even hundreds) of students I’ve worked with in the past! I love being asked questions and will also ask lots of questions back, this is because how you think and reason is really important going forward, and it’s important to work out why a student gave a particular answer, whether it’s wrong or right.
I’m extremely patient, and am happy to spend as long as needed going over a subject until it’s understood.
Tutoring since 2018 and worked as a teacher in 2022 before leaving to focus on medicine.
I’m proud of getting into Oxford and passing my degree, I’m proud of getting into graduate medicine and getting a merit in both the years I’ve sat so far.
