Hi there!
Iโm Saad, a graduate medical student at St Georgeโs University, currently in my fourth year (the university technically counts it as 4/5, since my graduate entry combined the first two years into one). I originally studied Accounting and Finance, so I know first-hand how challenging it can feel to leap into medicine from a completely different background.
At one point, I didnโt think it would even be possible, but with years of persistence, hard work, and determination, I was able to achieve my dream. Now, I want to help others who are aiming for the same goal, no matter their academic background. If you have the passion and drive for medicine, I believe it is possible and I want to help you get there.
I can provide guidance with the entire medical school application process, from writing a strong personal statement, to preparing for entry exams such as the UCAT and GAMSAT (both of which I sat myself), and finally interview preparation. Having been through it all, I know how overwhelming the process can feel, but with the right approach and support it becomes much more manageable.
Writing has always been a strong suit of mine, and it played a big part in my own success. I scored highly in the GAMSAT writing section, which I know many applicants struggle with, and Iโd be keen to share the techniques and strategies that worked for me.
Alongside medicine, my accounting degree gave me a strong foundation in mathematics, a subject Iโve always enjoyed and have experience teaching in the past. Iโve also had a long-standing interest in psychology and religious studies, both of which Iโd be confident teaching as well as the sciences.
Iโd describe my teaching style as patient, approachable, and adaptable. I explain things in simple terms, break big ideas into smaller steps, and adjust to how each student learns best. I like to make sessions interactive, encourage questions, and build confidence so learning feels less stressful and more enjoyable. From my own experience, Iโve seen that many students already have the ability and potential, they just need the right approach and strategy to unlock it, and thatโs what I aim to provide.
I have tutored mathematics in the past as well as medical interviews and assisting in applications.
Id say my proudest achievements is being accepted into medical school. With my background, I did not know anyone who made such a career jump, therefore I had to do my own research, volunteer for work experience and even applied for jobs in healthcare. My application was rejected, and that never wavered my motivation and drive to be a doctor. Eventually I managed to be accepted onto a graduate medical course at the university I desired and promised myself from that point to always help anyone who was in my position.
