Hi! My name is Kindha and Iโm a second year Medicine student at Imperial College London. I took 4 A-Levels (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths) as well as an EPQ, achieving A*s in all of them and the highest score in my year in Physics. I took 11 GCSEs, achieving 11 9s. In my Medicine application exams, I placed in the Top 0.5% of UCAT sitters in the 2020 cohort (with a score of 3200), and achieved a combined score of 16.2A in my BMAT. I applied to Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, University of Manchester, and Imperial – I achieved 4/4 interviews and ultimately received offers from Imperial and Manchester (though I was placed on the waiting list for Edinburgh). The medicine application process can be incredibly confusing and stressful, and I remember how much I wished I had someone to guide me when I was going through it myself. My academic achievements, in addition to successfully completing the process, make me well-equipped to tutor others through the process, and share the extra tips and tricks I picked up along the way!
No two people learn exactly the same, so I always like to start by assessing where the student is at and then working with them to come up with a plan of action to get to where they want to be. My teaching style is very active – I firmly believe that practice is key to solidifying learning, so I like to do as many practice questions as possible. This may sound daunting, but to me you gain more from attempting a question, getting it wrong, and learning from it than you do simply reading theory over and over again.
In school, I tutored primary school children in various subjects, including English and Latin. I have also tutored multiple GCSE students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
One of my proudest achievements is a recent one – I was awarded a Distinction for my performance in the first year of medical school, placing in the top 20% of my cohort of 400. It felt incredibly validating to know that all my hard work had paid off.
