Hi, Iโm Sophie!
Iโm a third-year Graduate Entry Medicine student at the University of Warwick, and Iโm thoroughly enjoying the course. My journey into medicine began in 2018 when I applied for undergraduate entry, securing interviews at Oxford, Bristol, Manchester, and Nottingham, and receiving offers from all except Oxford. Following an unexpected medical setback, I chose to study Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bath, always with the intention of reapplying for medicine in the future. During my final year, I successfully gained a place at Warwick Medical School.
Since starting medical school, Iโve developed a strong interest in paediatrics and have produced research in neonatology, which I presented at a national conference. I hope to pursue a career in paediatrics in the future.
Iโm genuinely passionate about medical education and love helping others reach their goals. Iโve supported many students in improving their UCAT scores and securing offers from prestigious medical schools.
Having been through both undergraduate and graduate medicine application processes, I understand the challenges, setbacks, and successes that come with each. I offer personalised guidance, honest insight, and encouragement to help you navigate your own path into medicine.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending quality time with my partner and our cavapoo puppy, Freddie!
My teaching style is friendly, structured, and student-centred. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I tailor each session to the student’s goals, whether thatโs tackling UCAT strategies, refining personal statements, or building interview confidence.
Having been through both undergraduate and graduate medicine applications, I understand how overwhelming the process can be. I focus on simplifying complicated ideas, teaching proven techniques/strategies, and building a studentโs confidence at every step. I believe in active learning, using practical examples, mock questions, and interactive feedback to ensure lasting understanding and progress.
Ultimately, Iโm here to guide and motivate students, not just to succeed, but to feel genuinely ready for the challenges ahead.
I began tutoring as a GCSE Maths tutor from 2017 to 2019, supporting a student over two academic years. With consistent, tailored sessions, I helped them build confidence and skills, ultimately achieving an 8 (A*) in their final exam.
Since 2021, Iโve been working as a UCAT and medical admissions tutor, supporting students through every stage of the application process โ from aptitude testing to personal statements and interviews. One of my standout successes includes helping a student improve their UCAT score from 2200 to 2800 in just one cycle. Iโve also supported students in gaining offers from top medical schools including Cambridge, Barts, Warwick, Keele, and Aberdeen.
Iโve received consistently positive feedback across tutoring platforms, with students describing me as โvery understanding and pleasant,โ and โextremely knowledgeable,โ. Some highlights include:
โCan tell she genuinely cares about the student and teaching them well.โ
โSophie is very friendly/accommodating and really great at listening and giving insight.โ
โHer guidance on my personal statement definitely helped me improve my final draft.โ
โSophieโs teaching skills are excellent! Would definitely recommend!!โ
These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of personalised, compassionate tutoring and the importance of not just helping students succeed, but also making them feel supported throughout the process.
Gaining a place at medical school after an unexpected medical setback in Year 13 โ a journey that taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of never giving up.
Presenting my neonatology research at the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) national conference, a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the field I hope to work in.
Delivering a baby during my clinical placement โ an unforgettable and humbling experience that reminded me why Iโm so passionate about medicine.
