About Me

I am a graduate-entry medical student at Barts and the London, where I started after completing my undergraduate degree in Anatomy, Developmental and Human Biology at King’s College London. I am currently in my final year of the graduate course, and I have loved every moment of it. The part I most enjoy is the dissection, it’s the most incredible and humbling experience – I have plenty of stories to share if that is something you are looking forward to in medical school! I hope to one day specialise into family and wilderness medicine, as my partner and I hope to move to rural Alaska one day. Outside of university and tutoring, I love to play video games and DnD with friends in my free time (especially when I get to practice my new medical knowledge as a healer!). As a tutor, I really understand how stressful exams can be, and how easy it is to become overwhelmed. As such, I’m always aiming to teach and support my students by tailoring my sessions to best suit them and to use my experiences, from both my previous degree and my current medical teaching, to offer guidance and advice. I hope to make learning an easier and as stress-free experience as I can. And, if possible, to make it fun!

My teaching style

I have tutored throughout my education, including both one-on-one sessions and teaching larger groups. My tutoring style focuses on understanding the core material to learn how to work through questions and come to the correct answer, rather than just memorising facts. In this way, I hope to help my students develop key methods and skills that they can apply across any subject and into their future career. How I go about teaching the core material depends upon how the student prefers to learn and their current level of understanding, so I’m very flexible about how the sessions can be run. This can include preparing resources, such as flash cards, to working through simplified diagrams and practising exam technique, or we can simply talk through complex topics together.

I really understand how stressful exams can be, and how easy it is to become overwhelmed with the amount of content that has to be learned. As such, I am more than happy to help students with developing a study plan and how to manage their time, and give advice on revision and exam technique. By sharing my experiences, I hope to make learning an easier and as stress-free experience as I can. And, if possible, to make it fun!

My past experience

I first started as a reading buddy during secondary school, and then continued teaching at university where I created and ran presentations going over key concepts for younger students. I have continued this in my current degree, where I act as Anatomy Lead for my peers and help teach relevant content. Outside of university, I have tutored for a number of private sites as both a one-on-one and as a group teacher.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement, outside of getting onto the graduate-entry course, was receiving the highest overall mark in my undergraduate degree for each year I was at King’s College. It was wonderful receiving recognition for my hard work and it made me feel that all the hard work was worth it, though it certainly often didn’t feel that way when spending day after day in the library!
