Hi! I’m Saaya and I am a 4th year Dental student studying at a top Russel Group University. After completing my GCSEs, and achieving 10 A*, I then went on to student English Literature, Biology, and Chemistry and achieved A*AA. The combination of my academic abilities and my communication skills enabled me to relieve all 4 of my university offers and pursue a career as a dentist.
I have formulated a tried and tested approach to understanding new content, which can be adapted to each and every student’s learning style. Moreover, I have a plethora of resources for each exam board, which includes PowerPoints that break down each aspect of the specification, tips on how to approach different styles of questions, and 1000+ exam questions. I teach a variety of subjects but specialize in GCSE Biology, GCSE English Language, and GCSE English literature. I am familiar with many of the exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.
My lessons involve a more active style of learning, which includes annotating documents, drawing images/ concepts on the screen, highlighting specific sections that are relevant, and so on, whilst also combining this with copious exam practice. I believe that marking exam questions together, identifying areas of struggle, and then working more closely on that specific topic/ concept helps students study more concisely and maximizes their time with me.
It has now been over 5 years since I started tutoring, and I can confidently say that not only do I help my students achieve their goals, but I also make them feel more comfortable and confident in the process.

My proudest tutoring achievement has to be when I started tutoring a student named Isla for her upcoming MMI interview. She was aiming to get into Plymouth University to study Dentistry and was extremely happy to have received an interview, but worried about the upcoming and somewhat complex nature of the MMI structure. At the beginning of our sessions, she lacked confidence, was often shy, and struggled with expressing her ideas in a cohesive way, in order to come across as assured in her interview. Through explaining the process, down to how the room could be set up, the time between each station, the type of stations, etc, she began to feel more comfortable with the idea of the interview. We practiced many different types of stations together, including those that were slightly more obscure in order to challenge her thinking and make her talk through her thought processes, even when the question may be challenging. Over the 10 hours of tutoring we had, we had many conversations about what was possibly causing anxiety, how to deal with more stressful situations in the interview, how to combat nerves, and more. Overall, these discussions meant that Isla had become much more comfortable speaking freely, whilst considering the purpose of the station as well as having a keen awareness of her body language and eye contact throughout. This led to her receiving an offer to study at the University for the degree of her dreams.
