About Me

Hi there, I’m Sofia, I’m a third year medic at Glasgow uni.
I received 4/4 interview offers, and was given 3/4 conditional offers after. I have performed in a range of interview settings (MMI, panel, ethical situations etc.) only 2 years ago, so I still have remember the interviews themselves and questions I was asked – many of which have not changed.
I also took part in mock interviews at my school, and during my first year I helped friends with interview prep (all of which were successful). I dreaded the interview stage of applications, however they were beneficial to me as they highlighted my communication and people skills. I would love to help others successfully gain offers to medical school.

Interviews are perhaps the most daunting stage of the application process, but they are your chance to shine! The key to interviews is confidence. During a stressful situation, where you will likely be asked unpredictable questions you need to be able to think on your feet, adapt whilst maintaining composure and a smile. And its all about practice.

My teaching style

Interviews are all about practice. In the interview, you will be asked unpredictable questions that you have not prepared for (the med schools do this deliberatly). In my opinion, regular practice with both common and rare questions is the best way to increase your confidence. I will highlight questions you may not have heard of.

I am happy to take you though ethical situations, and some of the answers I used that help me gain 3 offers. Additionally, I can share some insight into life as a medical student in 2022 – knowledge you can use to base answers of during your interview.

My past experience

At school I was part of a Medical Society, where we performed mock interviews. Others applying would share their experiences of interviews ad I gained a great insight into interview styles at different universities.
Additionally, during my first year I helped multiple individuals with their preparation for med school interviews, all of which successfully gained offers.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement was helping a woman named Lara. To gain work experience I volunteered as a befriended. Unexpectedly, I really connected with the woman I was paired with. I have talked with her every week since then, and I have really helped her mental health as well as helping improve her English. I’m really proud of how much I was able to help her and the connection I made with someone who was really struggling.
