Hi! My name is Zahir and I am about to enter my 3rd year of medical school. I am studying at the University of Manchester. I am from Manchester and went to the Manchester Grammar School.
I understand the stress that comes with the application process to study medicine and will be able to help you by reflecting on my own experiences. When I was applying to study medicine I asked as many questions as possible to prospective and current medical students to understand the process and how to make my application stand out, so I would love the opportunity to give back and answer any questions you have. I am very flexible when it comes to arranging times for our sessions and am happy to work around what’s best for you.
My interests outside of medicine include football and fitness, as well as being a member of the University of Manchester’s MedSoc and socialising with friends.
I have a thorough teaching style and like to ensure students understand concepts and can apply them in different situations rather than just copying things by rote learning where possible. However I ensure that I understand how the student learns best and what works for them, and work this in to how I teach too.
I tutored a student studying for GCSE Chemistry while I was studying for A levels at sixth form and I was thrilled when he achieved an A* in the final exam.
My proudest achievement is being one of 7 successful students out of over 90 applicants studying biomedical sciences to transfer to study medicine at the University of Manchester.
