8About Me
Hi I’m Sukhjote a third year dental student at the University of Birmingham. I believe as a tutor I can guide even those who wouldn’t consider themselves “naturals” at the interview due to my invaluable knowledge concerning dental interviews and personal statements, with me and 3 of my older sisters all getting 4/4 offers for dentistry. I also have a wide array of advice for the UCAT and the right methods and techniques leading you to achieve a high score, getting 2980 myself. I am very well versed in MMI and panel interviews for dental students and have all the tools to direct those who will be undertaking the dental interview towards receiving offers from their prospective universities. I have experience tutoring those who have never had any interview practice and built their interview technique completely from scratch, going through the interview topics methodically and taking the time to ensure the candidate doesn’t just know what to say, but also conveys this to the interviewer in a sophisticated and professional manner. I can also help with UCAT preparation from someone who is looking at the format of the exam for the first time to someone who needs help with their last minute revision just before the exam. Tutoring with me paired with a willingness to improve and taking time to practice what is discussed in lessons can lead to anyone gaining the offers they need for dentistry and the utmost confidence in your own ability going into exams and interviews.
My teaching style
I am very open and communicate well with students, so any questions or struggles you have, you can rely on me to guide you through it. However, I will push everyone to be the best they can be and will not settle until I’m getting the most out of a person’s potential but at the same time I try to make it as enjoyable as possible. I believe interactive teaching is the most effective, so during lessons with me you’ll find me asking you many questions, and then often we will reflect on the answers you give me together, so you can improve it for next time. Ultimately I believe the best way to get better at dental interviews is to practice answering the question like you would in the interview, so I try my best to incorporate many questions throughout the lessons. I also have a very flexible schedule so I can accommodate many lesson times.
My past experience
I have tutored many students on Study Mind in both panel and MMI interviews, and have developed a system of teaching that is adaptable to all students. I have found ways to develop the qualities an interviewer looks for in a wide range of students, and have received positive feedback from several students. Every student I have tutored has always booked more sessions after their first lesson, saying it was very helpful and that it benefited their interview technique vastly.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements would be gaining all 4 offers for the unis I applied to as it showed the time and effort I had dedicated to my interview technique all paid off. Being a sport scholar at my university is also another achievement I’m very proud of.
