30About Me
Hi! I am Grace a MVST student from Cambridge, currently undertaking an intercalated year in Pharmacology. Having tutored for just over 4 years, I believe its essential to adapt each lesson to the way in which a student learns best – hence my teaching style can vary dependent on what an individual is most comfortable with and can learn from. I have tutored alevel/gcse biology, chemistry, veterinary and medicine interview preparation and also the Cambridge Natural Sciences Admissions Assessment (NSAA). I like to ensure students feel able to ask as many questions as they like, this not only ensures that they are secure in their understanding of the content we cover, but also pairs well for building communication skills that universities value most in veterinary, medicine and dentistry degrees.
My teaching style
As mentioned above, my teaching style is highly dependent on the way a student learns or feels comfortable. During trials/beginning lessons, I like to ask each individual some questions regarding their studies and let them know a bit about me as tutor to ensure they are comfortable before we proceed with future content. This allows me to grasp an understanding of how the student likes to learn/communicate, which lays the foundations down for how I can structure our lessons surrounding the baseline academic content.
My past experience
I have tutored privately and with medicmind for a combined total of around 4/5 years as I started whilst I was in sixthform. Being a student myself not only helps me understand the difficulty that surrounds certain concepts at gcse/alevel, but also means I have learnt a few tips/shortcuts when it comes to exam preparation!
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements would definitely be hearing back from students around ucas offers/exam seasons. Watching students who worked so hard achieve and exceed their goals is the true reward that underlies tutoring – the tutor is only just a stepping stone in their pathway to success!
