7About Me
Hi! I am Liv and I’m a third year veterinary medicine student at the University of Cambridge. I am currently undertaking an intercalated year in Pathology, where I am partaking in a research project – allowing me to have more free time for tutoring.
I am keen to tutor GCSE science and maths along with NSAA and Vet interview help. I am passionate about helping other veterinary students with their uni applications as I understand there is limited help provided online and in schools due to the unique nature of the veterinary course. I know when I was applying to vet school, I found it difficult to know what to do to prepare as much of the information is irrelevent or outdated. I love science, having studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths for A level, achieving A*s in all three. I have a great understanding of the GCSE courses, already tutoring them for my sister, alongside achieving 9s in all Sciences and Maths and know how to refine exam technique to maximise marks.
My teaching style
I believe that a firm understanding of the concepts is very important, and when combined with exam technique, especially for GCSEs this leads to a huge improvement in exam results. I think that by understanding the core concepts, it is much easier for students to use this as a framework to then ‘hang’ the specific details off. I am keen to talk through concepts and create models and I use a variety of mnemonics to help students remember high yield content. Once students have a good understanding of the information – I use practice and past paper questions – both to improve content knowledge and exam technique.
My past experience
I am currently tutoring my younger sister for her GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
My Proudest Achievements
I ranked 14/61 of Cambridge vets with my exam results from first year, which I was very proud of – as it showed the work I had put into revision and exam technique had paid off. When I recieved my offer to Cambridge in Year 13, I was amazed that I had even got in – so to rank in the top 25% of my cohort was simply astounding!
