Hi, my name is Kieran and I’m a fifth year dental student at Cardiff University.

This is currently my 3rd year tutoring and I am very experienced at tutoring both UCAT and for the dentistry interviews.

Being an experienced tutor, allows me to be very flexible in my teaching style and approach. I will often adapt my methods respectively to the individual I am tutoring, and how best they like to revise/prepare. I like to identify strengths and weaknesses of the student from an early stage, listening to responses by the student, I will give out both praise and constructive criticism to help them improve. My main goal for interview preparation is to help create good structures for all possible questions that could be asked, to ensure students are as prepared as they possibly can be. As a final year dental student, I have a wealth of dental knowledge, this means I am very comfortable in explaining any dental procedures or topics that students may be having difficulty with, and helping to include a high level of dental knowledge in answers to impress examiners. I myself was very successful at the interview stage, achieving 4 interviews and 4 offers from the respective universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Newcastle and Sheffield. I have been a very successful tutor over my 3 years, and believe I have a very good understanding of what examiners are looking for in answers and how to ultimately achieve that offer.

I am also a very passionate and experienced UCAT tutor. Having completed over 100 hours of UCAT tutoring alone last year, I again like to have a flexible and adaptable approach to UCAT tutoring. I like to make my lessons as interactive as possible, as this ensures students are engaged throughout the whole lesson and are getting the most out of each lesson. Setting homework ensures students have understood everything that I have taught, and I always give an opportunity at the start of each lesson, for the student to ask any questions they may have or go over any difficult or wrong answers to homework questions. I am very comfortable teaching all sections of the UCAT exam, having scored an average of 700+ in the abstract reasoning, verbal reasoning and decision making sections in my exam. I am particularly strong at teaching the abstract reasoning section where I scored 870/900. Overall this meant I scored strongly in my UCAT exam where I got 3024 overall, giving me an average of 756.

I consider myself to be very friendly and always happy to answer any questions the student may have, or take upon feedback for content the student wants to cover in upcoming lessons. I know how important the UCAT and dentistry interviews are and are always happy to go that extra mile to ensure students get that offer/ UCAT score they desire.
