4About Me
Hi, my name is Shiromi and I’m a 3rd year medic at Imperial College London. My time at Imperial studying medicine has been an incredible experience where I had the opportunity to learn so many interesting things about the human body and its interconnections and apply this in a clinical scenario during placements.
Applying to medicine was definitely an experience and it made me motivated to help other students in their applications and help them reach their goals of gaining a medical offer as I know it isn’t an easy process.
I enjoy working with students and tutoring them, as it is something I do often, so you can be assured that I have relevant experience to guide you through your application whether it is your personal statement, admission tests or interviews. I achieved 12 x 9’s for GCSEs, 3 A*’s for A-Levels, total score of 3090 for UCAT and total score of 15.8A for BMAT so I will be able to help you with these.
My teaching style
My teaching styles of interview will involve me first teaching you how to answer different stations where you can ask me as many questions to help perfect your answer and during this I will also give you an example answer where necessary so you can get a feel how it would be appropriate to answer a question in an interview.
After having gone through a few stations and you have an improved understanding, we will implement the knowledge with practice MMI questions and I will do my best to replicate the interview environment.
Once you have answered the questions, I will give you both verbal and written feedback so you can identify where you can improve on.
This is similar in how I will teach you UCAT and BMAT where I will teach you the basics along with a few tips and tricks and then we can go through questions where you can ask me anything.
My past experience
I have tutored younger children for numerous subjects from Key Stage 3 to A Level and more recently I have enjoyed tutoring students with their medicine interviews which they have all found very helpful so far and made them more confident before heading into their interviews. I understand that everyone has a different learning style and I am adaptable in how I teach and what works best for you so I can assure you that the sessions would be tailored to how you learn.
My Proudest Achievements
My biggest achievement has to be getting into medical school at the university I always wanted as it showed to me that I am capable to achieving my dreams ( and this is something I also hope to inspire in all my tutees too).
